The BV 138 C-1 was built to a total of 227 units. Production ended in 1943

The reconnaissance flying boat entered the wrong fjord and crashed in the hillside above Baltsfjordvatnet due to bad weather. Lt. Fritz Karpf(KIA) Uffz. Fritz Dornauf(KIA) Obgfr. Kurt Haager(WIA) Obgfr. Helmut Rende(WIA), and one man unhurt.
